About This Event
SNAPSHOTS OF INNOVATION: THE LEGACY OF KODAK Wilson G. Bradshaw Library, Rm. 322 Snapshots of Innovation: The Legacy of Kodak explores the remarkable history of the Eastman Kodak Company and its founder, George Eastman, whose vision transformed photography from a specialized profession into an activity accessible to everyone. Through cameras, photographs, advertisements, publications, and archival materials, the exhibition traces Kodak's technological innovations and illustrates the company’s instrumental role in creating the modern amateur photographer. By simplifying the photographic process and making cameras affordable for the average consumer, Kodak empowered ordinary people to become photographers for the first time. In doing so, the company revolutionized the way people documented their families, travels, celebrations, and everyday experiences, forever changing how memories were created and preserved. Perfect for audiences of all ages, Snapshots of Innovation offers an engaging exploration of photography, innovation, history, advertising, design, and American culture, revealing how one company's innovations continue to influence the way we capture and share our memories today. Snapshots of Innovation: The Legacy of Kodak will be on display in the University Archives and Special Collections on the third floor of the Wilson G. Bradshaw Library from August 17, 2026, through April 30, 2027. The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. and closed on university holidays and breaks.
