Sea turtle nesting season is underway across SWFL beaches
Loggerhead, green, and Kemp's ridley sea turtles nest on Florida beaches each year from May 1 through October 31. Sanibel, Captiva, Naples, Bonita Beach, and the barrier islands of Charlotte Harbor all host marked nests during the peak summer months. Beachgoers are asked to fill in holes, flatten sandcastles, and keep beachfront lights off after dusk.
